DIVERSITY OF LIFE | TOMPKINS COUNTY FLORA |
The old Liliaceae has been broken up into several families based on molecular phylogenetic analyses. Some of the genera that have variously been placed in the Liliaceae are now found in Alliaceae, Asparagaceae, Hemerocallidaceae, Hyacinthaceae, Hypoxidaceae, Melanthiaceae, Smilacaceae, Trilliaceae and Uvulariaceae. As one might imagine, given the floral homogeneity of these genera, morphological features to distinguish all of these families are yet to be discovered. |
