Ithaca, Cornell Botanic Gardens, Arboretum, Plantations Road, north, full sun, flat, multiple trunked tree, 7.5 feet tall, spread 4.5 feet, young bark smooth, red, older is smooth and grey. Leaves green, slightly pubescent below, veins deeply. impressed. Bud scales red. A. heldreichii next to this tree is in full flower, 13 May 2015, McNaull & Nix 02-191E (BH 128905);
