CAYUGA FLORA (1926) NOTES: Low grounds and ditches, in rich soils ; frequent. May-June. Roadside, South Hill to Danby ; Inlet Valley, near Enfield Creek; flats s. and n. of Ithaca; waste places in Ithaca; and elsewhere. Widespread in e. N. A., where it is naturalized from Eu. It was probably introduced originally because of its value as a condiment.
