Key Hill swamp; Michigan Hollow Swamp; South Hill Marsh; Caroline Depot bog; Ellis Hollow; Fir Tree Swamp, Freeville; Mud Creek, Freeville; Beaver Brook. Newf. to B.C., southw. to n. N.J., Pa., Mich., Colo., and Calif.; rare or absent on the Atlantic Coastal Plain. Found also in Eurasia.
