Forest is mostly Appalachian oak hickory but right around C. wildenowii population the main trees are Juglans cinerea, Tsuga canadensis, Populus grandidentata and Pinus strobus, 3 Jun 2002, Werier 1086 (BH 23226);
 Town of Danby, E side of Cayuga Inlet Valley, top of ridge, N end of Thatcher's Pinnacles area, Forest with Quercus rubra, Q. montana, and Carya glabra dominant. Herb layer fairly open with Carex cf. pensylvanica, Melampyrum lineare, and Danthonia spicata, 8 Aug 2004, Werier 2455 (BH 23227);
