CAYUGA FLORA (1926) NOTES: Damp or boggy, also dry, sterile woodlands and banks, in gravelly, probably always acid, soils, usually under conifers; frequent. June-July 10. Frequent in the dry woods of the higher hilltops of Danby, Newfield, Caroline, and Dryden; Dry Run, Spencer; swamp w. of Key Hill; sphagnum meadow n. w. of Enfield Falls; Danby swamps (D.!) ; Fall Creek, near the iron footbridge (D.); w. of Varna (D.); Ellis Hollow (D.); Dart Woods (D.); Ringwood; Freeville swamps (D.); Beaver Brook; arbor vitae swamp e. of Clyde; and elsewhere. Lab. to Alaska, southw. to N.J., W. Va., Ind., Minn., Colo., and Calif. Found also in e. Asia.
