CAYUGA FLORA (1926) NOTES: Open woods and thickets if not too dry, in rather heavy, slightly calcareous or neutral, soils; frequent. Aug. 1-Sept. 15. Lower Six Mile Creek; Cascadilla woods (D.!) ; Fall Creek woods; around Mud Creek, Freeville ; Paine Creek ; and elsewhere ; less abundant in the more acid sandy soils of the basin. S. Me. to Sask., southw. to Ga., Ky., and Ill.; rare or absent on the Coastal Plain. A form with cauline leaves deeply 3-5-parted, and the lobes pinnatifid, occurs in Cascadilla woods.
