CAYUGA FLORA (1926) NOTES: A weed on gravelly banks, especially on bars in the streams and on railroad embankments, with little reference to lime content of the soil; very common. July-Sept. Widely distributed in N. A., having escaped originally from gardens where it was an old-fashioned ornamental plant. Naturalized from Eu. Flowers sometimes double.
