CAYUGA FLORA (1926) NOTES: Dry open woodlands and scrubby banks, in sandy or gravelly acid soils; frequent. July 10-Aug. On the high hills w., s., and e. of Ithaca, along the ravine crests and lake cliffs, and in the sandy soil n. of Cayuga Lake : South Hill ; Coy Glen ; Cascadilla Glen;Fall Creek ; Shurger Glen ; Taughannock Gorge ; and elsewhere. Rare or absent in the McLean region and on the clays and richer soils back from the lake shore. S. Me. to Ont., southw. to Ala., Ky., and Ohio, including the Coastal Plain.
